Come hear Ron Elkana speak on “Tanks for Chlorine Related Chemical Storage” at the Chlorine Institute Conference in Dallas, Texas (April 11-14).
Are you charged with specifying storage tanks for chlorine in your application or processes? Hypochlorite and other chlorine chemical family liquids have specific requirements in order to be safely stored. Come hear about the options that Chemical Engineers and Plant Managers have when determining the safest method of storage for these strong chemicals. You’ll hear about different types of chlorine storage tanks, how they are made and the inherent pros and cons of each storage type. You’ll discover the most important considerations when connecting these tanks throughout your plant or processes. By attending this session, you’ll understand the difference between a roto-molded plastic tank, fiberglass tank and an extrusion-wound plastic tank and why you would choose one over another.
In this 30-minute session, you’ll also learn:
- What are the tank options suitable for storing hypochlorite and other chlorine chemical families
- How these tanks are manufactured and when to specify each type
- How to properly plumb these tanks to connect them for processes throughout your particular applications
- What causes pressure or vacuum in these tanks (and how to avoid these for increased safety)
- The best way to fill and empty these tanks in order to avoid potentially hazardous situations
The lecture will be delivered by Ron Elkana, CEO of Houston PolyTank. He has been on the leading edge for development of rigid-walled harsh chemical storage tanks, particularly extrusion-wound polyethylene and polypropylene tank technology. He has experience with custom-engineered storage solutions that take into consideration:
- Chemical Compatibility
- Working Temperature
- Specific Gravity
- Size
With a strong background in chemical processes and a degree from Parks College at St. Louis University in Aerospace Engineering and a degree in Practical Electronic Engineering from University of Jerusalem, Elkana has both the training and the practical background to advise professionals in a wide variety of chemical industrial applications. He has worked on the most effective aggressive chemical storage solutions, process tanks and reactors, with experience in building both fiberglass and plastic storage tanks.
The Chlorine Institute (CI) is an association that exists “to support the chlor-alkali industry and serve the public by fostering continuous improvements to safety and the protection of human health and the environment connected with the production, distribution and use of chlorine, sodium, and potassium hydroxides, and sodium hypochlorite, and the distribution and use of hydrogen chloride.”
