We are honored that because we are experts in supplying storage and mixing tanks for aggressive chemicals to a wide variety of industries (including the gas, oil and mining industries), we were asked to contribute a case study for the June issue of one of the leading publications in this space. Today we announce that Houston PolyTank was featured in the June version of Gas Oil & Mining Contractor.
Problem: A rare earth mine in California needed many skirted cone-bottomed Mixing Tanks and Reactors to mix aggressive chemicals at elevated temperatures such as Cerium, Lignosulfonate, and Sulfuric acid. Because of strict California laws, the tank needed to have four 24” access holes cut into the skirted cylinder base to create a non-confined space under the cone.
Solution: Houston PolyTank, LLC built multiple 10,000 gallon polyethylene and polypropylene skirted cone-bottomed reactor tanks with a mixer mount right on top of the tank. Baffles on the inside of the mixing tanks promoted proper mixing of the cerium and increase the heat transfer coefficient and possible chemical reaction rates.
Houston PolyTank Mixing Tanks are excellent for aggressive chemical storage, process tanks and reactors used in many industries, such as Chemical, Oil & Natural Gas, Mining, and many other industries. They can replace Steel, Stainless Steel, Fiberglass and Roto-Molded plastic tanks, are made of either HIGH DENSITY LINEAR POLYETHYLENE (for applications up to 120°F) or POLYPROPYLENE (for high-temperature applications 180°F- 200°F), and take into consideration:
- Chemical Compatibility
- Working Temperature
- Specific Gravity
- Size
Result: Because of the unique extrusion-wound manufacturing process, these tanks can have wall thicknesses between ½” to 6” that can support 1 ton (2000 pounds) on the top of the tank to hold a mixer without building any external structure.
