Many aggressive chemical storage tanks include a top-mounted mixer that has agitator paddles to stir the liquid. Sometimes, these agitators are stainless steel, but often they are coated in Teflon™. If the tank you specify is not sturdy enough, you have to build a whole separate platform to support the mixer that mixes the liquid in the tank.
But that’s not the case with Houston PolyTank’s extruded plastic tanks.
Two of the most compelling features of Houston PolyTank’s storage tanks are the unusual combination of plastic materials formed into a unique, thick rigid wall construction. Because of our proprietary extrusion-wound manufacturing process, our clients can request a mixer mount which gets bolted directly on top of the tank.
Our tanks can support 1 ton (2,000 pounds) to hold a mixer without building any external structure as other tank manufacturers need to construct.
The mixer mount is a metal I-beam structure the transfers the weight of the mixer to the rigid tank walls. The structure also dissipates the vibration and torque forces of the mixer and the motor during operation. This saves money, saves space and on-going maintenance. These mixer mounts can be added to chemical storage tanks as small as 50 gallons up to 20,000 gallons.
Another benefit of extrusion-wound construction is that we can easily add internal baffles which are welded along the inside walls of the tank. Normally, the baffles are engineered to be 12% of the diameter of the tank.
All together the structural way that Houston PolyTank’s extrusion wound tanks are built allows the most convenient way to add a mixer and baffles to the tank without causing the tank wall to bulge.
